SPACE MARINES

The Space Marines of the Adeptus Astartes are the Imperium's elite, superhuman warriors created by gene-seed implants engineered from the genetic material of the Primarchs. They are organised into roughly a thousand Chapters, each an independent army of about a thousand warriors with its own fleet, traditions and recruiting grounds. Most Chapters follow the Codex Astartes, fighting in companies of ten squads; each squad takes the field in a Devastator, Assault or Tactical role. The Space Marines are far too few to garrison the Imperium, and are committed instead as shock troops, expected to stand their ground in any situation.
