Space Marines Rules

Rapid Fire

Any Space Marine model that has not moved—except to pivot—and is not engaged in Hand-to-Hand Combat may fire a Boltgun, Storm Bolter, or Bolt Pistol twice during the Shooting Phase; this is Rapid Fire. It may not be used on Overwatch.

Citadel Journal

Citadel Journal 25, p53, reader submission. A Tactical Squad may use four drills with the Boltgun. A Veteran squad armed as Tactical Marines may use them; a Space Wolf pack may not. A drill applies to the squad's Boltguns only, and its other weapons fire as normal. Skirmish Fire: a hidden squad or combat squad may fire and is Detected rather than Spotted. It may not be combined with Rapid Fire. Suppressive Fire: at the start of the Movement Phase, after charges are declared and before any model moves, the squad may fire at enemy models that are Detected, or that are hidden where they were in sight during their last move. Each firer rolls to hit once, with the normal cover modifiers, and may not move that turn. The shots are fired before any Overwatch shot, and may drive the enemy off Overwatch. Fire Charge: a charging squad fires first in the Hand-to-Hand Combat Phase, before digital weapons and similar attacks. Each model fires once at -1 To Hit, at an opponent it has reached, or else by the normal target priorities. A Marine whose shot kills the opponent it engaged makes an immediate Follow-Up Move before the combats are resolved, and fires nothing during it. A squad may also fire after a run at -1. Reflex Fire: a Tactical Marine that is charged may fire at a model charging it or its squad, at -1 as for Overwatch, and as a normal shot otherwise.

Shaken

When Space Marines fail a Break Test, they become Shaken instead of Broken. Shaken Space Marines may not move towards the enemy, but can still pivot to face them, Shoot, fight in Hand-to-Hand Combat, and participate in the Psychic Phase. Where every move open to them would close on the enemy—when they are surrounded, for instance—they may not move at all beyond turning to face; otherwise they move freely, into cover or off the table edge.

Shaken Space Marines attempt to Rally as Broken troops do, and shed Shaken status the moment they pass, acting normally from their next turn. Insane Bravery and Craven Cowardice do not apply to them.

Shaken Space Marines engaged in Hand-to-Hand Combat may only make a Follow-Up Move to move into Cover or to engage another enemy that is already fighting a Space Marine.

Failing an additional Break Test whilst Shaken causes Space Marines to become Broken.

Leadership (Chaplain)

A Space Marine unit that fails a Leadership Test—whether from Psychology or a Break Test—may take it again at once, so long as it stands within 8" of the Chaplain.

Carried by Chaplain.
