IMPERIAL GUARD

The Imperial Guard is the principal army of the Imperium, countless millions of soldiers fighting on thousands of worlds. Every world must offer a tenth of its armed forces for recruitment each year; the troops raised together form a regiment named for its home world. A regiment brings the uniforms and equipment of its own world, though nearly every Guardsman carries the lasgun. The Departmento Munitorium organises recruitment, supply and transport, and Commissars accompany every regiment to preserve discipline and loyalty. A Guard army takes months to assemble, and falls on the enemy with massed infantry, tanks and artillery.
